The London Elstree studios near Watford has had a long and important part in the rich history of British Cinematography. Among the great films made there have been Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Superman [from the international bestsellers] and Ice Cold in Alex, the Dam Busters and Lolita [for the classic British films].
But that is not all that Elstree has had to offer to the wider British filming community, the BBC has their own studio in the area, it is famously where Eastenders is filmed and in themiddle years the recently finished big brother was filmed in Elstree as well.
All this and the fact that Elstree is so close to the London Underground means that more and more people have elected to actually stay in a hotel in London Elstree, instead of opting to pay for the privilige of staying in London City Centre. It's s good place to stay even if just for the vibe.
