London Elstree
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Films

The London Elstree studios near Watford has had a long and important part in the rich history of British Cinematography. Among the great films made there have been Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Superman [from the international bestsellers] and Ice Cold in Alex, the Dam Busters and Lolita [for the classic British films].

But that is not all that Elstree has had to offer to the wider British filming community, the BBC has their own studio in the area, it is famously where Eastenders is filmed and in themiddle years the recently finished big brother was filmed in Elstree as well.

All this and the fact that Elstree is so close to the London Underground means that more and more people have elected to actually stay in a hotel in London Elstree, instead of opting to pay for the privilige of staying in London City Centre. It's s good place to stay even if just for the vibe.

Web Design

I must admit, I would be useless at website design, I like a bit of functionality on the web. I don't like "over-designed" websites, with all types of widgets & gadgets and whatnot.

But there are some people who put their heart, soul and I would say too many hours into creating really complicated things for the internet.

Again, it must just be that I am a bit old fashioned but I want web pages to load up quickly, for them to give me the information that I want, and then for me to go somewhere else. To find out some more.

But I suppose the kidz these days seem to enjoy it. I myself wouldn't be bothered if we wnt back to the days of Geocities

Alternative Music
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: Godflesh [old hat but still love 'em]
Topic: music industry

A good friend of mine put me onto a band, serotonal, recently I vaguely remember them from my time back in the Moshpit [club in Edinburgh for moshers].

Even now that  I'm getting a bit older I still like all my music to be raucous like this, and that is why we must all support alternative music pr companies, in order to destroy the evility [is that a word?] of the major labels that crush talent, and limit the opportunities of decent distribution.

But we have a friend in the internet, if you want to find out about Seratonal and many other fine bands check out invisible hippo. now!

National Sun Awareness Week 2010
Topic: National Campaigns

Much to my surprise I found out that last week was National Sun Awareness Week here in the UK. I was surprised because I heard next to nothing about it, but also because it is doing that usual Scottish drizzle, but when I thought about it it did make more sense to have the campaign BEFORE everyone nicks off to get burnt on the costas somewhere.

I could find very little about it on the blogosphere, and only when I came across some stuff that had been copied and put all over those press release sites.

But at  least AXA PPP did their little bit.

Sterling Furniture - Advert
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Sterling

Hey I just came across a nice TV advert for some folks I once worked for, back in the day, made famous by Dougie Donnelly, and just by the fact that they were from Tillicoultry.

They are now branching into online furniture retail I hear, good luck to them.

Affiliate Management
Mood:  mischievious
Now Playing: shonen knife
Topic: co-workers

Where I work, right now, there are people who are called affiliate managers, they are sitting across from me right now, I can see them, but I still have no idea what it is that they actually do. Don't get me wrong they must do something, it's just that nobody ever explained it to me. I'm not really sure if they know what I do either, so it's even stevens.

Mind you sometimes I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing mostly, except LinkMünki stuff. So maybe they don't know what they're doing either.

The result - everybody is happy
